We provide three major solutions—ATM, DDS and FrameLink—to satisfy different business needs. All these solutions come with comprehensive maintenance and support services.

ATM


Our ATM service supports LAN inter-connect, backbone networking and host backup, and multimedia and image applications such as video conferencing.

The technology behind
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is a global standard broadband service using cell-based switching technology for data transmission and networking across local-area networks and wide-area networks.

Solution features
  • LAN Inter-Connect: HKT ATM Service is ideal for a meshed LAN network with burst-type traffic. It especially works well for transmission that requires management, control, and defined traffic priorities
  • Backbone networking and host backup: Broadband support for a remote disk provides a network-channel connection comparable to a local connection. This allows a customer to use the remote disk for disaster recovery and the implementation of client-server computing through data synchronization of multiple servers
  • Multimedia and image applications – Our service supports videoconferencing, CAD/CAM design applications; video production and editing; and medical-image transmission

DDS


HKT's Datapak digital-data service provides managed, end-to-end transmission facilities.

Service features
  • Allows distance-independent and digital-data communications within Hong Kong
  • An advanced non-switched data-transport system, our DDS offers point-to-point, point-to-multipoint (polling) and broadcast services
  • Dataline (Point-to-Point) provides host-to-host connectivity as well as backbone network for mobile operators
  • Mainline/Branchline (Point-to-Multipoint) enables connectivity between host computer and its branches
  • Broadcast service (Point-to-Multipoint, Simplex) broadcasts information to end users at every specified location

FrameLink

FrameLink is typically used to transport burst-type data between multiple locations with a host-end and a large number of branch-ends, providing a cost-effective back-up host site.
