Tap & Go introduces Hong Kong's first Single Use Card for consumers to enhance security for online payments

HKT (SEHK: 6823) – HONG KONG, 23 July 2026 – Tap & Go¹, a digital wallet service operated by HKT, launched the first-to market Single Use Card² for consumers in Hong Kong, providing enhanced security for online transactions to better protect users amid rising fraud.

Tap & Go’s Single Use Card is a Virtual Mastercard Prepaid Card – each card is issued with a unique card number, expiry date and CVV. After one successful payment, these credentials will immediately expire which can prevent any subsequent unauthorised use and mitigate risks from merchant data breaches. Each card is purpose-built for security and aims to deliver robust protection as customers increasingly prioritise safeguarding their personal and financial data. For additional protection, the cards have a validity period of no longer than two months.

The card also delivers practical convenience with global acceptance and flexible spending controls. Backed by the Mastercard network, the Single Use Card is accepted widely by online merchants worldwide. Users can also set transaction limits for each Single Use Card to suit their individual spending habits and can create and manage multiple cards within a single Tap & Go wallet for different purposes.

The Single Use Card is now available to all Tap & Go Plus (ii) and Pro users through the Tap & Go app.
